ABOUT ANDREA PROCTER

Andrea Procter is an anthropologist with twenty years of experience working with Indigenous communities in Labrador. In 2017, she joined the Newfoundland and Labrador Healing and Commemoration project with James Igloliorte to document the stories of Labrador’s boarding schools. Her book, A Long Journey: Residential Schools in Labrador and Newfoundland, has been recognized as a model of collaborative research with Indigenous communities, and has won numerous awards, including the Atlantic Canada Book Award for Scholarly Writing, the Canadian Historical Association's Clio Prize, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Book Prize for Non-Fiction. She has a Ph.D. from Memorial University.
